SCULPTURE STUDENTS:

ALTERED BOOK REFLECTION DUE TOMORROW, 3/14, end of day.
Instructions available on the Sculpture Assignments page or in the art room.

SCULPTURE STUDENTS: Altered Books are due MONDAY (3/12) at the end of the day!
Be prepared to write a paragraph in class explaining the personal meaning in your book and how you attempted to tell your story.

DRAWING STUDENTS: Sketchbook Check #2 is TOMORROW, Friday, March 9th.

Art Show this weekend in Quincy! Extra Credit!

ART SHOW EXTRA CREDIT   (Up to 20 points)       

Due Monday, March 5^th

For her Senior Project, Haley Whitener is organizing a free art show at the Reiman-Simmons house this weekend: 

Friday: 5-8pm / Saturday & Sunday: 11am-4pm

(The Reiman-Simmons house is the little white historic house on the edge of town, going toward Wenatchee.  It’s on Central Ave. across from Subway, next to the auto body shop.)

Attend the show and answer the following questions in complete sentences, covering at least 1 page.  

1)   Describe the overall location, gallery space, and artworks that you see.

2)   Choose one artwork that you are especially attracted to.

a.     Describe the artwork in detail.  Write the artist, title and medium, if the information is available.  If not listed on the artwork or program, ask someone who works there.

b.     Describe what you see in the artwork.  What colors, shapes, and textures do you see?  What objects or activities do you see?  What is the main content, or story?  

c.      Explain how you think the artwork was made.  (If the medium is not listed, make an educated guess.)

d.     Explain your feelings about the artwork.  What is your opinion? Do you like it or not? Why? Use specific details from the artwork to back up your opinion.

Drawing students: 
Remember to make time each week to complete 2 independent sketchbook entries!  

Experimental Mondays will give you time to try new techniques in your sketchbook.  Take these experiments and add them to your drawings, or vice versa.  Try something new each week and stay challenged!
Remember:
  1) You can work from the prompt list in any order you want, just label each entry clearly.
  2) You can always draw from life - people, animals, plants, your surroundings - just label clearly!
